A Wau

Let me write a bit about Wau... I am sure Malaysians know what a wau is, right?

The wau is our traditional version of teh kite, except that it is nothing like the common diamond-shaped variety and it takes a lot of skill to create. Some reach up as high as 3.5m and generally , it looks like a long stretched-oval shape joined by a cresent-shaped moon. This is normally common in Kelantan state... its designs are very elaborate especially with traditional motives, coloursand holding annual competitions and going to "kite-wars" with each other. Making the wau is time consuming craft but when it is finished, the designs are just unique and outstanding than any other kites....
