Accidents Compensation

This morning when I read the morning newspaper, I felt sad when I read about a bus accident again. This time the bus/truck accident claimed 7 lives and just two or three weeks ago, that bus accident claimed 12 lives. Not only lives were lost, many passengers were badly injured. It was disheartening to hear the victims losing their limbs and one was even paralyzed from the waist down. He is only eighteen years old. Imagine, the whole bright life in front of him is now so dim, family members were devastated to come to terms with these injuries inflicted on their love ones. There are so many accidents on the road, I read in this Texas truck accident lawyer in which these experienced lawyers can claim compensation for the victims and at least one financial burden is off their shoulders. It is concerning the hip recall lawsuit in which the victims were badly injured. Use the SEE Acronym When Reading to Kids (2)

Now, back to the original question. How do you read aloud to children and keep their attention? I've developed a little acronym that helps me remember how to do this. It is SEE.

S - Slow enough

Some people tend to read too fast, and it is hard for the children to follow. You don't want to read so slowly that they fall asleep, either!

E - Enunciate

Pronounce the words clearly. Don't run them together.

E - Expression

This may be the most important of all. Don't read in a monotone. Use expression as you read.

You might want to tape yourself reading a story and listen to it. Sometimes we don't realize how we sound to others.

So read the text at a slow enough speed so that the children will hear the words, enunciate clearly, and use expression. Hopefully you'll be able to hear a pin drop in your class!

Use the SEE Acronym When Reading to Kids

Have you ever noticed that some adults will read to a child or a group of children and very few of them are listening? Yet someone else could read to that same group and you could hear a pin drop.

I often read to my students in Sunday school class, even though they are nine and ten years old, and they can read themselves. There are a few reasons for this.

1. First of all, I only see them on Sundays, so I'm not as familiar with their reading levels. I don't want to embarrass any of them.

2. Kids notoriously don't listen to other kids read. While one child is muddling through the text, the others are talking or fidgeting.

3. The time factor - often there isn't time to have children read the Bible story and still be able to complete the other activities that go with the lesson.

Investment Is Good

One of my college mates used to tell me that if I have saved enough money, I should try to invest in gold coin than putting the money in the bank. For one thing, gold is an international form of investment, it is accepted globally whereas our currency is based on our own country's economy. He added that investors generally buy gold as a hedge against any economic, or currency-based crises. He seems to know so much about these type of crisis that includes investment market declines, currency failure and even inflation. However, he advised me that before I really invest in some solid foundation, it is best that I read more in the websites whereby there are some dedicated professionals to monitor our investment. It always pay to read and get more knowledge before we make our final decision and not to invest in anything hastily.

Season Cycle (2)

Many verses in the Bible speak of times, cycles and promises of the return of spring after an apparently "dead" winter. Even in our winter times we are growing roots. Things are happening within us under the mighty hand of the master gardener, our Lord Jesus Christ.PRAYER: Lord Jesus, please help me through those times when there is no evident bloom. Help me to grow deep roots and cling to you even more then. Even in the pruning, Lord, help me not to wince but to give a joyful response. All that is not of You needs to go. Seasons Cycle

We have taken several drives lately and been in awe of the brilliant yellow, gold and orange leaves on our local trees. I miss the fiery red of the Minnesota maples but we have a corner on the other colors here in Colorado. The fall colors are like a Fourth of July display before we get into the more subtle colors of our winter here in the Rockies.God ordained the seasons and change we cycle through each year of our lives. He might even speak to our hearts about this is we can get quiet and listen. Getting quiet and listening is always my greatest challenge of any given day:You see the flowers of my creation, they have seasons and cycles. They bloom and grow and bloom then grow and gain strength to bloom again. The flower with its allure and fragrance is not always visible, yet it is still an iris or a rose and recognized as such.

In Song of Solomon 2:12 the Bible speaks of flowers appearing on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.Yes, I wish we were coming into springtime instead of winter right now but at least we have the promise of coming springtime. Around here we look for the humming birds which migrate back sometime in May each year, brave little critters as it is not unusual for us to have snow in May also.In Song of Solomon 6:11 there is talk of "blooming". "I went down to the grove of nut trees to look at the new growth in the valley, to see if the vines had budded or the pomegranates were in bloom." (NIV)

Personal Investments

When I was at my friend's house this morning, we discussed about our country's economy and budget for 2011. There were some issues which were pretty interesting to debate on, for instance the imported cars, petrol, medical expenses and the rebate given to each individual on tax relief. In fact the world economy is affected in a way and as tax payers, we are really concerned about our monetary gains.
When it comes to investments, there are certain groups that we can put our money in and let them grow from there. But what is the safest and best option to invest our money? Some will advise you to put into the bank as fixed deposits and receive some dividends yearly. Some others will encourage you to invest in shares commodity but my friend told me to buy buy gold. Well, who shall I listen to? The best and safest way is to do our own research online and seek the right people for investments.

While everybody is talking who is listening ?

Our Creator created our ears to hear his voice.
Our Loving God didn't force us to listen to him; he has given us a choice.

It is written that we should be quick to listen but slow to speak.
But most speak more than listen, having conversations that are weak.

He has given most the ability to speak and have an opinion.
But his voice is drowned even though he has the ultimate dominion.

Why does an earth, filled with people that he created, continue to go astray?
Why do his people chose to listen to other people who are in opposition to his way?

Our God, who created the mouth, also has a mouth to speak.
Is there a wisdom greater than the wisdom of God that we should perpetually seek?

Our Heavenly Father has all the answers and desires us to seek him for his quidiance.
Instead of having God as our best friend, many have settled with only having him as an acquaintance.

Don't be like most who do all the talking but when God speaks they choose not to listen.
Let us be children of God who listen and obey our Heavenly Father without strife or contention.

Let Jesus Come In

Let Jesus Come In
by Deborah Belka
10/11/2010 / Poetry

A heart full of wounds,
that no longer can feel.
Needs the touch of Jesus,
who knows how to heal.

A life that's been shattered,
that leaves them nowhere.
Needs the hand of the Lord,
to lead them somewhere.

A body that is broken,
beaten up, and is bare.
Needs the love of Jesus,
who will always care.

A sinner, a beggar
a poor man's thief.
Needs God's forgiveness,
to overcome their grief.

No matter your station,
or place in this life.
You need the Savior,
to overcome the strife.

So open your mind,
shut out the depression.
Let Jesus come in,
and make His impression!
