5 New Tennis Stringer for the Florida Gators Tennis Team
Florida Gators men’s tennis team will be officially joined by 5 new stringers namely Michael Alford, Sekou Bangoura Jr., Andrew Butz, Johaness Robert Van Overbeek, and Nassim Slilam which will compete for the Florida Gators on the spring seasons of 2010.
University of Florida men’s tennis coach Andy Jackson announced the new stringer recruits for the 2010 spring season, who will complete for the Florida Gators men’s tennis team. The following are the stringers who have respectively applied for admission and wrote a letter of intent to join the Gators tennis team:
Sekou Bangoura Jr.
Sekou Bangoura Jr., the Pan-American Junior champion in 2009, is from Bradenton, Florida. He is also a runner up of USTA Junior National champion of 2009 and he is also a runner-up of the USTA Kalamazoo Sportsmanship for the second time already. Currently, he has five ATP ranking points and reached a high position of number 53 during the ITF Junior World Rankings.
Nassim Slilam
Holder of the 30th French ranking and 86th ITF Junior World Rankings. He is a two-time competitor in the main juniors draw at Roland Garros . Slilam holds the 1,456th position in the ATP Rankings from Paris, France.
Johaness Robert Van Overbeek
A USTA Futures quarter-finalist fromKaplan College, a preparatory school in Boca Raton, Florida. He was able to compete in Wimbledon and in the US Open in 2009 during the main juniors draw. He also earned a high rank position, which is no. 54 in the ranking for ITF Junior World.
Michael Alford
A USTA Florida State Doubles champion from Wharton High School in Tampa, Florida. Michael Alford is also the 3A Florida State High School champion.
