Cosmetics
There's mascara to make the eyelashes appear fuller. Lipstick to add color and shine to the lips. A foundation cream can cover spots or uneven skin coloration.
We can even boast of colored contact lenses and artificial hair colors and dyes!
In this modern age, women all over the world wear make-up. But this is no surprise, for make-up is not a new thing. Its origins date back centuries. The ancient Egyptian queens, including Nefertiti and Nefertari, applied their own concoctions of cosmetics to try and beautify themselves further.
And even men wear make-up.
Let's travel back five thousand years. Sitting upon a cushioned sofa, a wealthy Roman lady tries to relax as her personal servants smear a pale, white paste into their mistress' face.
Some say that the first make-up originated in Rome, although it was also used quite early on by the Egyptians. No matter where it started, the use of cosmetics was a part of everyday life for women in Rome, mainly among the wealthy and the prostitutes. This should tell us a bit about what make-up really is!
Remember Ahab and Jezebel from 2 Kings? Jezebel painted her eyelids and applied her own make-up to appear attractive to General Jehu. Vanity again! Our goals should not be to try and grab the attention of the other gender!
Roman beauty included pure white skin as the most important feature. But native Roman women weren't naturally fair-skinned, and spent their time outside with oils on their faces. This proves to be a problem, when one desires to be as pale as possible!
Working-class ladies could afford the cheaper varieties of cosmetics, but applying the make-up was such a time-consuming task, many ladies did not have the time (nor slaves!) needed to do it, for cosmetics in that era needed to be re-applied several times daily because of weather conditions and poor composition. The production of cosmetics during ancient Rome was usually done by female slaves called Cosmetae.
Women would often prepare their faces with beauty masks prior to applying makeup. But what was the make-up composed of?
One recipe called for the application of sweat from sheep's wool to the face before bedtime. Other ingredients included juice, seeds, horns, excrement, honey, plants, placenta, marrow, vinegar, bile, animal urine, sulfur, vinegar, eggs, myrrh, incense, frankincense, ground oyster shells, onions with poultry fat, white lead, and barley. There was even the idea of bathing in asses' milk, which was an expensive treatment used by wealthy women such as Cleopatra VII and Poppaea Sabina.
Women have used burnt matches to darken their eyes, berries to stain their lips and human urine to fade their freckles. They have even swallowed ox blood in some misguided attempt to improve their complexions. Little did these women know, the pastes and concoctions they were putting on themselves had quite dangerous properties. Why do women put their bodies at risk this way?
All because of vanity, these women put their health severely at risk. Those poor Roman, Greek and Egyptian ladies would use make-up made with mercury, copper, arsenic and white lead. Even leeches were used to give a pale complexion. Some of the results in using toxic chemicals as did the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians were deformities, blindness, even death through the ages. These are only a few sad examples.
We move on to the middle Ages. (The 5th to 15th centuries) Although its use was frowned upon by church leaders, many women still wore cosmetics. A popular trend for women during this time was to have a pale-skinned complexion, which was achieved through either applying pastes of lead, chalk, flour or bloodletting. You know there is far too much emphasis on appearance when a person will do harm to herself all for the sake of being beautiful in the eyes of the people around her.
Cosmetic use was frowned upon at
many points further on in Western history. For example, in the 1800s, make-up was used primarily by prostitutes.
Queen Victoria publicly declared make-up "improper, vulgar, and acceptable only for use by actors and actresses." Apparently she didn't believe it to be vulgar and improper for them! Adolf Hitler told women that face painting was for clowns and not for the women of the master race.
And by the middle of the 20th century, cosmetics were in widespread use by women nearly all over the world.
Now, the Spiritual question: Is make-up something that we as Followers of the Messiah should use? Does make-up bring glory to God? Are we taking care of the bodies He's given us when we apply cosmetics? Does that make Him look good, are we representing His Name worthily when wearing make-up?
Once again, I will not tell you what you ought to be doing. I am not saying that wearing make-up is a sin. What I am trying to get across is the importance of pondering whether what you're doing is honoring to God or not. The Scriptures say in so many places that we are to give Him the glory in all that we do.
Also, we are to be good stewards of our bodies. Have you ever seen some young woman with make-up inches thick pasted on her face? Ok, maybe that's an exaggeration. My point is, have you ever seen a girl with so much eyeliner, eye shadow, blush, lipstick and mascara that she is no longer the girl you saw the other day? Maybe she dropped by for a visit briefly when she had not "gotten all fixed up," and you thought she looked quite lovely just natural.
But that's the problem. No matter how much you try to convince her of her natural beauty, she refuses to accept your compliments and insists that she looks horrid, and "in much need of her make-up."
Education is Important
Now the most important fact is that one need to be educated to move on with life. Without proper education, it is quite difficult to survive in this economy nowadays.

Pop Tarts or Grandma's Cinnamon Rolls: An Encouraging Word for Sunday School Teachers
I treasure all those breakfasts and I am forever thankful that my grandma worked so hard at blessing her family with a lavish display of food. She cared for us and it showed. I know that without a shadow of a doubt, that if my grandma had simply just served us pop tarts, I would not have the same fond memories that I possess now. Pop Tarts might feed the stomach for a little while, but they will always leave you wanting more when compared to homemade cinnamon rolls.
So, what does this all have to do with Sunday school? A lot, in my opinion. Being a Sunday School teacher is a chance to invest in the lives of a class of children. It's a chance to have a relationship with kids where you are free to share about God. Being a Sunday School teacher is an opportunity for you to be vulnerable and human and show your students how God has changed your life and how much you love Him and His Word. It's really about relationships and relationships take time, love and care. Relationships also take a lot of work. If we really want to make a lasting impression on the children God has given us, we must be willing to put in the hard work it requires. In other words, going back to my analogy, you need to be willing to serve your Sunday School class a feast every week. I promise you that if you bless your kids with "cinnamon rolls", they will remember your class, but more importantly, they will remember God and His love for them. Your "Pop Tart" classes are never going to cut it in the long-run. They will leave your children hungry and wanting more. One way or another they will get their hunger filled hopefully it will be God who fills them and not the world.

Staying Healthy
Unpin the Hearts: A Super Bible School Activity for Preschoolers
Here are the moves I came up with:
Strengthen me (Have children raise up arms like they're showing their muscles.)
According to Your Word. (Have children put their hands together then open them up like a book.)
I run in the path of your commands (Have the children run in place.)
For You (Have children point up to God.)
Have set my heart free. (Have children place both hands over their heart then push their hands upward as if their heart is being set free.)
Go over these moves several times. After they have learned these moves you can have them play a fun activity called "Unpin the Hearts."
Here's what you do:
For this activity you will need to make 5 to 10 pairs of identical paper hearts. Let each set be a different color of paper. Laminate these for long-term use. Pin one set of the hearts onto a clothesline. Place the matching set in a bag or bucket from which the children will pick. Have the children perform the moves to this Bible verse. After doing the moves, have one child come forward and pick a heart from the bag or bucket of hearts. He will take the heart to the clothesline and find the matching heart. He will unpin this heart off of the clothesline to "set it free." Play this Bible school activity over several times until all the hearts have been unpinned and set free.

Gold Venture
He told us that with the with the economy gaining these days, it is a good time to consider investing in some kind of venture where it brings good returns from our capital. In fact one of the best options is to invest some of our money in gold. He told us that investors generally buy gold as a hedge against any economic, or currency-based crises. These crises normally includes that investment market declines and currency failure and this might lead into inflation. But before we start investing, it is advisable to seek out the right professional people who can give us more information on our cash investment.
Awesome God (2)
... Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.
Everlasting love? That means it lasts, or endures, through all time. Uh-huh forever. Endlessly. Eternity upon eternity!
Can you wrap your mind around the reality of this? God's love for us never ceases even when our behavior is hurtful toward Him; when we ignore Him and go our own way, doing our own thing, living our own lives our heavenly Father just keeps right on loving us and yearning for us to love Him in return. Even when we don't love ourselves, He still loves us.
And when we have a problem, He wants to fix it for us, in the same way that we want to make everything right for our children. The difference, of course, is that we can't always do it. But God is the solution, and He is well able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we can ask or even think! (Eph. 3:20)
Oh, yes ... He's an AWESOME God!

Awesome God
It made me think yet again how very mindful our Savior is of us. He loves this young woman so much that he laid her on the heart of someone who knows her only by name and photo. We've chatted a bit online, enough to know that we have a lot in commonnot the least of which is that both of us are writers. But I've never met this pretty Texas author, so I can't say I really know her well. And yet God chose to lay her on my heart in her hour of need.
I never cease to be amazed at the care and concern He shows us every day that we live. Even when we don't realize what's happening, our Father "has our backs." And when we cease to care about ourselves, He still cares, and continues to fix things for us. He truly is an AWESOME God
Gold Coins Investment
Investing in gold bullion these days is one of the best options. As an investment product, gold is a better choice than any other products. You can purchase them in form of gold bars, coins or in ingot form. These ingots are convenient in size and shape and many people like to collect them as a hobby. Their glitters will not change nor does their shape. One of the advantages of investing in gold is that they are internationally recognized and can be traded and accepted globally. While it is a good option to invest in gold, it is also advisable to seek the right people to buy them from. This is where US Gold Bureau comes in, they have the dedicated staff and with their expertise in this gold investment, one can rest assured that the gold value is always there. In fact these gold coins have a currency value no matter where they come from.

Heaven (2)
Here are few of my favorites:
Matthew 18:3 – Jesus himself said that unless we become like little children, we would not enter the kingdom of heaven. Actually, it’s so important, it is recorded again in Mark 10:15. Surely, I am not implying that children are stupid. They are not. But they certainly do not have the capacity to analyze, pontificate and think through an issue from all possible angles. Nope. Life is simply too full of amazing new discoveries to trouble themselves with debates, arguments about who God is or isn’t. All they want and all they need to know is that there is a God, and that He is good; He loves them and if they believe in Him, they’ll get to go to heaven. How much simpler can it be?
John 5:39 – Jesus told the Pharisees that “Bible” studies will not get them into heaven. He says that they study but they missed the point. An African proverb says it like this: “I pointed out to you the stars, the moon and all you saw was my finger tips.” Or how about this, the Bible is a bus for heaven – it is more important to get on the bus than it is to understand every how-to in the owner’s manual. The analogies are endless. But the point would be the same – you must be born of water and spirit, not of water and paper.
John 12:3 (also Matthew 26:7, Mark 14:3) – Mary came and poured very expensive oil over Jesus’ head and then wiped His feet with her hair, washing it with her tears. In any culture, even today, a scene like this would be considered a spectacle. And I am not even talking about the dollar value of that perfume. The only person honest enough to say anything was Judas. We think of Judas as a traitor, as a miserly greedy man who sold out our Lord. But how many of us budget our tithe and giving governed by our head and not our hearts? In the early days of the church, people sold their possessions and laid the proceeds before the apostles for the work of the gospel. Today, those who do exactly that must endure ridicule for being foolish, financially irresponsible or having been swindled.
1 Corinthians 1:25 – Apostle Paul, one of the most learned man ever lived, spelled it out. God uses the foolish to confound the wise; and the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom. In other words, no matter how many initials we may hold at the end of our names, unless we are foolish enough to believe in Jesus, we are just not smart enough to get into heaven.
So I think it is time to take a vow – for all of us with college degrees. We should all vow to become more foolish each day – to be foolish for Christ.
I've written to ease my pain; I've written to hear my voice; I've written for vanity; I've written for sanity; I've written for fun; I've written for laughs; I've written for me; I've written for money. But until I write for God, this talent is for naught.

Heaven
Starting with Genesis. Let's face it, to agree that the entire Bible is true means that you have to also believe in the Creation story. You have to believe it on faith and reject the seemingly logical science of "evolution." This alone would make any college-educated average moron (who probably has never read the Bible nor studied real boolean logic) tell you that you are an idiot. (They would totally discount that statistically speaking, the creation story is more plausible than evolution.)
Ending with Revelation. Again, if you are to proclaim that the entire Bible is true, every word is the inspired word of God, then you cannot shirk away from this awesome book of fantastic imageries, ultimate doom of evil and the final triumph of good. However, if you were to ever proclaim that we are in the end times, the intellectuals will mock you as Chicken Little or treat you like a zealot with a few screws loose. They will relegate you to the class of tabloid fodder. (Of course, let’s not study the statistical miracle of fulfilled prophecies of the Bible, including the ones that are making headlines today.)

Gold Coins For Trading
As the world market recognizes these silver and precious metal investments, it will be much encouraged to find some experienced body to monitor the deals. It is better to be safe than sorry. To make sure our hard earned money can generate income, United States Gold Bureau can help us to achieve that by purchasing gold and keeping them long term. Gold is always a beauty, it is recognized internationally and can be traded anywhere.
The Co-Pilot(2)
In this life we only have 2 control towers the Holy Spirit and Satan. If you fail to respond to the Holy Spirit he will continue to try to contact you and get you to follow his instructions until you are out of his control then he has no choice but to turn you over to Satan's control. We don't know where that control point is, only God does and he leaves the responses up to you. Will you follow him and the Direction of the Holy spirit or will you reject his requests and fly into Satan's controlthe choice is yours and God will not force you because as I said earlier he gave us a free will and he will not go against his word. It is now your responsibility you are fully responsible for everything that happens during your flight, the flight of your life. What are you going to do?

The Co-Pilot
Let me lay out the job of the pilot. Someone determines that there is a mission that needs to be accomplished. In this mission you receive the orders for where the mission will start and where it will end and what it is that you must accomplish along the route. The Pilot then plots the course that he feels is the best route for the mission in order to accomplish the mission in the best way possible. The co-pilot then does whatever the pilot requests him to do. The co-pilot may be requested to fly along a predetermined course so the pilot can plot course corrections along the way, or he may be asked to tune the radio to another frequency to contact the new control tower. The co-pilot's job is to assist the pilot in whatever way necessary. The Pilot has the ultimate responsibility for the mission and the aircraft. Good or bad no matter what happens the Pilot is responsible.

World Recognized
These days when I read the newspaper, I could see commodity shares going up and down, meaning they are not on "solid foundation." One day you can see the shares going up and the next, it falls. It is kind of worrying for those who are investing.
For better options in investment, one need to take precautions. Ask ourselves, do we want to put short or long term? Which is safer? What other investments can generate good income and in the low risk category? Well, as I see it, I would like to go into gold bullion as a long term investment. As we all know, gold is recognized internationally and it can hedged against inflation if we keep them in the long run. World demands is high and we can always trade in anytime we want. This is one of the best way to invest.
Seasons Cycle & Change (2)
In Song of Solomon 2:12 the Bible speaks of flowers appearing on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.
Yes, I wish we were coming into springtime instead of winter right now but at least we have the promise of coming springtime. Around here we look for the humming birds which migrate back sometime in May each year, brave little critters as it is not unusual for us to have snow in May also.
In Song of Solomon 6:11 there is talk of "blooming". "I went down to the grove of nut trees to look at the new growth in the valley, to see if the vines had budded or the pomegranates were in bloom." (NIV)
Many verses in the Bible speak of times, cycles and promises of the return of spring after an apparently "dead" winter. Even in our winter times we are growing roots. Things are happening within us under the mighty hand of the master gardener, our Lord Jesus Christ.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, please help me through those times when there is no evident bloom. Help me to grow deep roots and cling to you even more then. Even in the pruning, Lord, help me not to wince but to give a joyful response. All that is not of You needs to go. AMEN

Seasons Cycle & Change (1)
God ordained the seasons and change we cycle through each year of our lives. He might even speak to our hearts about this is we can get quiet and listen. Getting quiet and listening is always my greatest challenge of any given day:
